Blah…

So I’m just trying to get to Wal-Mart. I was driving down Kingston cause I had decided to take the “scenic route” rather than the Interstate. Bad, bad, bad error in judgment there. There was a blinking arrow thingy getting everyone to merge into one lane. I was like, oh, great, construction. But traffic wasn’t bad, so I slowed down a bit (to about 40 in a 45) and continued on my way. Next thing I know, I see all these cops. There was a road block, testing for DUI. And I get ticketed for “driving too fast for conditions.” Meaning the road was one lane so I was supposed to majorly slow down. So I get a ticket and I look all over it to see how much it is. It says nothing. No court date. Nothing. So I get home and go to the website listed on the back of the citation. I look up the ordinance number that is on my ticket and it says it is $133.50!!!! Blah! Although, I have no idea when I’m supposed to pay this by, since there’s no court date on the ticket. I will probably call on Tuesday and ask. So stupid!! That is the same fine as driving 25+ over the speed limit. Ugh. So annoying.

Heh.

Well, after struggling with the router for about half an hour and realizing it just wasn’t going to work, I went to Best Buy and exchanged it. This one is not defective.

I can’t wait till Thursday! I hope it comes before 2, cause I have to work then. It probably won’t. Then, I can’t wait till Friday!

Tera shipped!! Yay!!!

I also got my wireless router today. So when she gets here, everything will be ready for her.

After much deliberation, I have decided to name her Tera.

As in terabyte. Because she’s big. Ah, how I spend my time waiting for her to ship.

Got the backpack today. I finally had to go find the UPS place and get it from them. It’s pretty big. Lots of strappy things and pockets. And a nice padded section for Tera. Now if only she was here to put in it.

Today’s random thought: I need to stop hanging my arm out the window when I drive. Seriously. I’ve been doing it all summer and I have an awesome tan on my left arm. But it doesn’t match all the rest of my skin.

*yawns*

Mondays and Wednesdays are long. I just want to sleep. But I have 50 pages of a novel I have to read for my English class tomorrow. Not to mention the 100 pages of stuff I have to read for my medieval studies class when I finally get the money to buy the books. I swear, my comp sci class is the only thing that will get me through Mon and Wed. It’s right there in the middle. Right when I’m like, “No more school! Wanna go home!” And it gives me the power to make it through the rest of the day.

So my laptop hasn’t shipped yet. Got an email from them today, saying my Paypal echeck finally cleared and they will ship sometime in the next FOUR days. !!!! I payed for THREE day shipping for a reason. I want my laptop! So it might be another week now.

Speaking of my laptop, I’m trying to come up with a name for her. It needs to be female and computery. Any suggestions? I have yet to think of anything.

Also speaking of my laptop (she really needs a name…I can’t keep referring to her as “my laptop” as though she were just some ordinary, everday laptop), I ordered a backpack to carry her in and I’ve been tracking it through the UPS site, of course. Anyway, it said they came Friday, but I didn’t get a notice. Then I check today and it says “resident moved”?? So I call. Sit on hold. Finally, I get through. Apparently, they had my address wrong. They thought it was the apartment across from me. This wasn’t my fault. I made sure and went and checked my order confirmation. It had it right. So I don’t know where that went wrong. Anyway, I got that all straightened out, so they will be delivering it tomorrow when (of course) I won’t be at home. Fun stuff.

Okay…update on my computer.

I was just sitting calmly here, talking to some people on gaim, listening to some mp3s, browsing a few sites (mainly looking for stickers for my laptop…and getting sidetracked by other nifty things that I find), when all of a sudden my current mp3 started skipping like a broken record. “Hmm…that’s not good,” I thought to myself. Then Linux froze. I panicked. Linux doesn’t freeze. All of a sudden, a loud knocking noise comes from the direction of my tower. “That’s really not good,” I start thinking. It doesn’t seem to be close to ending any time soon, so I hit the power button with my big toe. I wait a moment, hoping that when I turn it back on, it realizes that I have two hard drives. I hit the power button again. Yes, hard drives! Grub loads up and I choose to boot to Linux. Then it starts looking at my hard drives and it doesn’t want to boot up. Major mobo problems here. So I put my Knoppix cd in and rebooted. And here I am.

I need laptop. Now. I don’t know if she can survive four more days.

So the first “week” of school is over.

Everything is going well so far. Just trying to get back in the swing of things. I’m very tired, mostly because of walking around campus with the 90 degree heat and humidity. I might sleep all day tomorrow.

My laptop will be in next week. So I will be busy setting it all up and stuff. Now I just need a digital cam to take pics of it once I get it. Tux is sitting on my keyboard right now. I think he’s excited about the laptop too.

I just got done watching Chicago for the second time. Now I’m watching “What Not to Wear,” but it’s a rerun, as usual. They seriously need some new episodes. Or, more people could write Comcast and try to get TechTV here. Then I wouldn’t have to watch stuff like TLC. Maybe.

Okay, I think I’m babbling. Cause I’m tired. So I will stop.

Oh, by the way, I haven’t had any comments in awhile. I promise I won’t bite. Stop making me think that no one loves me!! I know people come here…

Today was the first day back at school.

Blah. It was long. My feet hurt.

I’ve got two math classes back to back in the morning. That’s no fun. Then I get an hour-long break. Then I have my comp sci class, which (so far) is my favorite class (and will probably stay that way…I somehow doubt I’m just going to absolutely love my English class). And, yes, there are more girls. I’m just stupid. Then I have an hour-long break. Then I have medieval studies, which, blah, is just a bunch of reading and writing.

Tomorrow I’ve got that English class and work.

Gotta buy books tomorrow too. Good-bye, money.

So, duh…let me retract my previous statement from 1:30 this morning.

When I looked up the roster, I could only see my section number. Therefore, that’s only like half the class. I just shouldn’t think after midnight; I get confused. So note to all (two) of my readers (hi, mom!): DO NOT READ ANYTHING I TYPE AFTER MIDNIGHT!

Anyway, the big news of the day is: I am a new lab assistant for the CS dept at UT. Woohoo! Doing a bit of training tomorrow and my first day is Thursday.

This week is going to be forever long while I’m waiting for my laptop. I can feel it.

So it’s 1:30 in the morning and I can’t sleep and I have a job interview tomorrow morning.

I better not look like death. Anyway, so to occupy myself I decided to look up my class rosters, since classes start Wednesday. I am the only girl in my CS class. Usually there’s like two or three others, but no. According to the roster, I am the only one. So we’ll see about that in a few days.

Laptop should be here, probably, about Saturday. I’m super excited. I’ve been dreaming of this laptop for like a year now. Okay, so I’ve only been dreaming of this particular laptop for about two months, but still. Here’s a link to pics and specs and stuff. Yay! Now, a new problem: it’s a 17″ widescreen, so anyone know where to find some good 1440 x 900 desktop wallpaper?

Only 4 more days. Blah.

Why did summer seem so short this year? I guess it always seems short, though.

Speaking of short, I got my hair cut the other day. It’s right above my shoulders and layered, and I think it looks pretty groovy. It’s probably the shortest I’ve ever had it cut. I’ll have to take a pic with the webcam some time.

Speaking of the webcam, my computer is like dead. Well, not completely, but it’s doing that stupid thing where the bios won’t recognize my hard drives, blah blah blah. Occasionally it will, but I don’t dare try to boot into Windows cause I get like every error message known to man. Linux is running decently though, and those times when it doesn’t want to see my hard drives, I usually just boot into Knoppix, so that I can get online and stuff. Hopefully, I will be getting a laptop soon anyway.

So school starts in 11 days.

Yay. At least I won’t be sitting around bored all the time. At least not on MWF. I still need a job.

I don’t really know what my problem is. I have a lot of stuff I could be doing, I just don’t do it. Like, I bought a couple computer books cheap a week or so ago to keep myself occupied (ignoring the fact that I’m already in the middle of like 4), but I can’t bring myself to read them. I think about reading them. But I don’t do it. I just keep sitting here. Bored. Trying to come up with something to put in my blog that won’t put people to sleep. As you can see, I haven’t come up with anything yet. So, sleep well.

So I was putting dishes up after I washed them, and I realized that I only had three of my four small black stonewear bowls. So I was thinking, maybe I missed it when I was cleaning up after Brina left. So I looked for about twenty minutes or so, getting very frustrated because how can you lose a bowl?? So I was taking a break, sitting at my comp, and then it occurs to me: isn’t there a bowl of grapes in the refrigerator? I go look. Yep. There’s my small black bowl. I wanted to smack myself.

What’s sad is, this is the best news I have.
