Haven’t been up to a whole lot lately. Just working and hanging out. That’s about it.

I was looking over the rules to Uno this morning, and I started wondering how rules that aren’t in the rules become normal. Like, in Uno, everyone I have ever played with has played where if you didn’t have a card you could play, you had to keep drawing from the deck until you get one that works. However, the rules say you are only supposed to draw one. Does anyone play like this? Or like the Free Parking space in Monopoly. You aren’t supposed to get anything, but does anyone really play where you don’t get money from the middle? How do these rules get to be so widespread? Hmm.

I want a kitten.

Even the video games have these options available.

Exactly. Where did they come from?

I have always played “draw one” style…and the most fun way to play monopoly is where all fines go into the kitty, which is given to whomever lands on Free Parking.

The worst house rule I have ever seen in any game is when I played poker in Hopkinsville with some baseball friends of mine. Their rule was that a Royal Flush beats 5 of anything except aces. That’s illogical. Logic aside, I had 5 jacks during one hand, and was betting like there was no tomorrow. When the cards were turned up, I proudly displayed my jacks, and was told that some clown with a royal flush had beaten me. WTF?

I lost about $50 on that hand, and decided to never play with those idiots again. That was brutal. I am getting pissed just thinking about it.
