Blockbuster’s Movie Pass thing is great.

Basically, for $24.99 a month, you can check out two movies at a time, bring them back whenever, and get two more. Except they were having a special when I got it, so it was only $14.99. Considering the cost to rent one DVD is nearly $4, this paid for itself the first time I brought back movies to get two more.

I just got back from renting Seven (which I’ve been really wanting to see for a long time) and Jacob’s Ladder. Gonna be a fun night.

So, I got bored and decided to do something new to the site, so I could mess with more SQL and PHP. Heh.

In my Stuff I Own section, I’m adding ratings and reviews to everything. So far I’ve got ratings done for all the cds and dvds, and like one review. So if you go click on one of the cds or dvds now, you will get a pop-up that tells what I think about it. Because I know everyone is dying to know. ;)

Updates..

I went to the mall today for my lunch break and got in line at Sbarro’s. In front of me was a guy with long scraggly hair and messy clothes. He looked homeless, but I couldn’t really tell. Anyway, so I’m standing in line and he turns around, looks at me, and says, “Hi.” Now, I’m a polite person, so I said hello back. He asked me how I was, what kind of pizza I was getting, and various other things, and all the while I’m thinking to myself, “Please don’t ask me for money.” Especially since I have $10 (well, $5 now) to last me until I get paid next Wednesday.

Then it was the guy’s turn in line, and he asked the guy behind the counter if they could spare some pizza. Yep, homeless. I was right. They gave him a couple slices and he went on his way. So I ordered my usual pepperoni slice and a breadstick, went and ate, then walked around the mall a bit.

On my way out, I hear a voice say, “So how was your pizza?” I look up and there’s the homeless guy again. I said, “Good,” while hoping he wasn’t planning on following me to my car.

“Is there anything I can do for you?” he asked. I shook my head.

“Nope.” Please don’t follow me to my car. He didn’t. I got out of there as quickly as I could.

I dunno. I was a little creeped out. Well, I wasn’t until he started talking to me outside. I felt followed or something.

Anyway, I went and saw Garden State a couple days ago. Good movie. I had been really looking forward to it coming out, and it definitely lived up to my expectations.

Other new movies I’ve seen lately (because of Ben’s quest to get to me see them) are The Dark Crystal (which I actually bought, since there was some unknown force that seemed to want me to not see this movie), Thumb Wars and Thumbtanic (okay, that one wasn’t on Ben’s list…we were just feeling silly at Blockbuster one night), An Evening with Kevin Smith, Animal House (yeah, I’m a loser who had never seen it), and we started to watch The Man Who Knew Too Little yesterday but I was so tired, I passed out.

How often do you change the ringtone on your phone?

I changed mine again this afternoon. This is the sixth regular ringtone since I got my phone last December. This doesn’t count personal ringtones, of course. It started off as something generic that came on the phone. Then I changed it to “I Feel Fine” by the Riddlin’ Kids, and it stayed that way for a really long time. It was “Sex Type Thing” by the Stone Temple Pilots for a week or two. Then it was “The Reason” by Hoobastank for about another week. Then I changed it to “Busy Child” by the Crystal Method for a month or so, and today I changed it to “Perfect Drug” by NIN.

On top of that, I have personal ringtones. Like when Sabrina calls me it plays “Ænema” by Tool and when Ben calls it plays “Weak and Powerless” by A Perfect Circle. Or, in short, I never really know when my phone is ringing since it rings differently every time.

It was really weird when I changed it from “I Feel Fine.” I didn’t use personal ringtones then (basically cause that was the only ringtone I had besides the crap ones that came on the phone), so it was really confusing to hear something else. Now everytime I hear a phone ring, I have to wonder if it’s mine, since I have so many different ones.

I don’t really know what the point of this post is. Just wondering how often everyone else changes their ringtone I guess.

I got my new diamond Mastercard in the mail today.

I’m still curious as to how I got this. The little insert that came with it reads, “You’ve earned an upgrade to our most presitigious credit card — the Citi Diamond Preferred Card… The automatic upgrade is our way of acknowledging your excellent credit history and thanking you for your business. Your new card has the same credit line and competitive APR as your old card, with Platinum benefits and still no annual fee.” Yeah. First of all, my APR is NOT competitive. It’s sky high. Which is probably why they are thanking me for my business. They make a ton of money off of interest every month because of me. Second, I just went over my credit limit like a month or two ago. How’s that for excellent credit history?

This new card is much shinier than my old Platinum card. I guess cause it’s Diamond?

It’s about time for another one of those introspective posts that I hate writing.

I think I have discovered what I’ve been missing all this time. I’ve finally worked out why I sometimes get into these bouts of depression. Although I’m much better now. They are much fewer between and shorter-lived than they were a year ago. But I go through these periods where I feel like no one cares. And I think I know why.

It’s not that I don’t think that no one cares. I know people care. It’s just that I don’t feel needed. If that makes sense. To me, being needed is the greatest thing in the world. It gives me a sense of purpose. If I’m not needed, then I have to wonder what is the point.

What I mean by needed is that if I wasn’t in someone’s life, then they would be worse off. That is needed. That someone else’s life is better because of me. Maybe that is a horribly selfish thing to want. But usually the people I want to need me are the people that I need. So maybe it’s not. It just really sucks when you feel like that about one person, but you are fairly certain that they don’t feel that way about you. That it wouldn’t matter if you were in their life or not. It just makes me feel really insignificant and inconsequential.

Bleh. Maybe I just need sleep.

Waiting for the cable guy when you have no cable is insanely boring.

I’m using this time I have to backup all the crap on my hard drive. Yeah. Three DVD-RWs just for my mp3s. There’s nothing like watching DVDs burn at 1x. Whee. My sole source of entertainment at the moment is the constant stream of techno emitting from my speakers. And Lydia chewing my arm off.

Gonna go out tonight with the girls for a change. Should be fun. I’m broke, so I’m DD. Whee.

Ah, finally got my car back. It’s about time. I really hate relying on other people for rides. It irks me.

But now, for some reason, my cable is out. Which caused me to miss the last two episodes of “Last Comic Standing.” Grr. I guess I will have to catch the reruns on Comedy Central tomorrow. Although John won, so I’m not too upset about not being able to vote. I would have voted for him anyway. Cable guy is coming tomorrow to check out what’s wrong.

Let’s see. Ben has been making me watch a ton of movies lately, since he seems to think I haven’t ever seen anything. So, here’s what I’ve seen in the past few weeks:
The Blues Brothers: Funny.
Punch Drunk Love: Weird. Need to see again.
The Devil’s Advocate: Liked this one.
Kung Pow: Very funny. “I implore you to reconsider.”
Go: Really liked this one. Need to buy it.

Hmm. Not much else going on. Been playing a lot of Worms World Party lately. My Mastercard somehow got upgraded to diamond status. Lydia is insane (she is climbing the drawers in the kitchen as I write this). Will probably have another board game party at the end of the month. :)

Time for an update.

Well, we didn’t win anything at the duck race. Maybe next year.

I had Red Lobster for the first time last Friday. Heh. I ate lobster tail and crab legs. If you know me, this is weird. :) I enjoyed the lobster, but the crab legs…not so much.

Still no car. Bleh.

And apparently I didn’t clean up all the glass.

Because now I have a Band-aid on the bottom of my foot. Ouchie.

Being without vehicle is not fun.

My car is being worked on, so I can finally get that huge dent out of the side of it. However, it won’t be ready for about a week. Therefore, I get the joy of relying on other people for rides everywhere. I hate this. I would really like to go driving around right now, as I always do about this time of night, but I can’t. Grr.

All I can do is sit here and play the Six Flags theme song in my head (”We Like to Party” by the Vengaboys, for the curious, but without all the corny lyrics).

Speaking of Six Flags, we are definitely planning another trip for October. We’ll probably go ahead and get season passes, even though the year is almost up. Season passes are basically cheaper than tickets for two days, and we want to spend our whole weekend there. Note to self: see if they sell season passes at the ticket office on campus. Going to be an even better trip. Cooler weather, less people, less daytime, open later, Fright Fest. :)
Ben and I are going to enter the Great Knoxville Rubber Duck Race this weekend. Should be a lot of fun. Cross your fingers for our duck!

I should probably have another board game party in a month or so. It’s been awhile.

Lydia is psycho. I came home today to find her in the cabinet where her food is stored. Apparently she learned how to open it. There was also a glass broken on the floor in the kitchen. And potpourri everywhere.
