Christmas is going well so far…

I have a ton (and I mean, a ton) of pictures that I’ll post when I get back to Knoxville Sunday night.

I’ve gotten several DVDs (including Shrek 2, Memento, Return of the King), some games, a book, and some other stuff so far.

It’s going fairly well. I’m ready to go home though.

I know, it’s sadistic… I can see it now in olden times
*rough looking soldier* You there! You have six chances to spell out a certain thing I’m thinking of, or you DIE!!

Only five days till Christmas….

I can’t believe it’s so soon. I’ve got all my shopping done (for the most part). I’m heading to Clarksville on Thursday night and staying till Sunday. Sabrina, the other girls, and I are going bridesmaid dress shopping for her wedding on Sunday too, so that’ll be interesting.

Ben and I went to the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas concert last Friday night. They were really good. My favorite piece was probably “Fantasia on Greensleeves.”

Mittens is a neat word. Mittens.

The dinner party is over…

I made stew, grilled cheese sandwiches, garlic bread, and magic cookie bars. Yum. Right as everyone started getting their food, the electricity went out (this is unrelated to the power surges I was having the night before; the entire area was out). So we ate dinner by candlelight. Then we started playing Monopoly. The electricity finally came back on a few hours into the game. And it was a long game. With eight people playing, you don’t really get a lot of properties. Ben finally won.

Some pictures are posted in the usual spot. They aren’t very good because I was taking them in the dark and couldn’t really see what I was aiming at. I also took a few shots of the new apartment and the Christmas tree. We ended up not getting a real one and just putting the fake one up. We still might get a real one later this week.

Argh.

So, as I was cooking a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of hot chocolate last night, my kitchen became possessed. The lights and all the electronics started going on and off. First thought was: ghost? Second thought was: ah, power surge. Right as that occurred to me, a loud pop came from the living room, followed by a puff of smoke. I was racing to turn everything off, and that didn’t calm my nerves. I checked to make sure there was no fire and went to bed.

Got up this morning to check the damage: my TV and my Xbox no longer work. Wonderful. I just bought that Xbox less than a month ago. It came with a three month warranty but I’m sure I have to have the receipt, which I don’t. I have to call them soon and find out.

I did get the problem fixed, however, so no more power surges. It’s just a little too late for some things.

Well, I didn’t get all the stuff out in time, apparently.

We went over to the old apartment last night to finish and the locks had been changed and 90% of the stuff that had been in there was gone. We got what we could, but I lost my vacuum cleaner, my huge cooler, some pans, a lot of dishes, my utensil holder, curling iron and hair curlers, couch cover, as well as some other things. So I guess I’ll add some stuff to my wish list, bleh. Maybe someone will get me a Roomba.

So I guess we’ll finish setting everything up this week and then put up the Christmas tree and I will take pictures. I’m having a dinner party Saturday night, so we’ve got to have all that done by then.

I miss Lydia.
