So fall break is over.
It felt super short. Like a normal weekend. And I still need new shoes. And to read medieval studies stuff.
Well, the birthday countdown is on. 27 days.
Not that I expect anything to happen. Except getting old.
I made brownies Saturday night, but one of my friends showed up and dragged me out of the apartment before I could eat any. By the time I finally got one, Sunday evening, they were cold. Cold brownies aren’t nearly as yummy. But they were still good.
I’m sitting in Claxton waiting for my next class. It doesn’t start for another hour and ten minutes. I really should have planned my schedule better this semester. In eight days I can register for next semester’s classes. That schedule will be better.

One month till my birthday!
I see my comments are down again. Not that it matters since no one leaves me comments anyway. You’d think since, on average, I get 10 unique visitors a day, one would leave a comment.
Anyway, my ebay auction just ended. It went for $30, which is more than I paid for it, so I’m happy.
It’s FALL BREAK! Yay! I am in desperate need of a four-day weekend, even if I am working Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. I actually need to spend this time catching up (starting?) on my medieval studies reading, since I have a test in a week.
I had a Diff Eq test today. The ONE thing I forgot to study was on there twice, of course. Why does that always happen? I think teachers are psychic. I ended up getting a C+ on my comp sci midterm. I haven’t decided if I am happy or upset. Before the test, I thought I was going to do horrid. After the test, I thought I did average. And I guess I did average, by definition. Except on my scale, average is a B or B+. So I don’t know.
I’ve been watching the Disney channel all night. I always forget I have it, since it just showed up on Comcast like a month ago. Still need Tech TV.
Everyone go sign up for the Social Network on Emode. It’s like Friendster, but better.
And then add me to your friends list.

I got an unexpected email today.
Powernotebooks rebated me $30, since they lowered the price of their 4760. I bought Tera like a month ago! Such a great company. I highly recommend them to everyone.
I got my coffee table today. Finally picked it up. It’s too tall for my couch. I need a new couch now.
I think I did decently well on my Math 300 test today. Which is good, considering I never got around to studying.
Now if I could only find some time to work on my comp sci lab…

*yawns*
Mondays and Wednesdays are long. I just want to sleep. But I have 50 pages of a novel I have to read for my English class tomorrow. Not to mention the 100 pages of stuff I have to read for my medieval studies class when I finally get the money to buy the books. I swear, my comp sci class is the only thing that will get me through Mon and Wed. It’s right there in the middle. Right when I’m like, “No more school! Wanna go home!” And it gives me the power to make it through the rest of the day.
So my laptop hasn’t shipped yet.
Got an email from them today, saying my Paypal echeck finally cleared and they will ship sometime in the next FOUR days. !!!! I payed for THREE day shipping for a reason. I want my laptop! So it might be another week now.
Speaking of my laptop, I’m trying to come up with a name for her. It needs to be female and computery. Any suggestions? I have yet to think of anything.
Also speaking of my laptop (she really needs a name…I can’t keep referring to her as “my laptop” as though she were just some ordinary, everday laptop), I ordered a backpack to carry her in and I’ve been tracking it through the UPS site, of course. Anyway, it said they came Friday, but I didn’t get a notice. Then I check today and it says “resident moved”?? So I call. Sit on hold. Finally, I get through. Apparently, they had my address wrong. They thought it was the apartment across from me. This wasn’t my fault. I made sure and went and checked my order confirmation. It had it right. So I don’t know where that went wrong. Anyway, I got that all straightened out, so they will be delivering it tomorrow when (of course) I won’t be at home. Fun stuff.

Today was the first day back at school.
Blah. It was long. My feet hurt.
I’ve got two math classes back to back in the morning. That’s no fun. Then I get an hour-long break. Then I have my comp sci class, which (so far) is my favorite class (and will probably stay that way…I somehow doubt I’m just going to absolutely love my English class). And, yes, there are more girls. I’m just stupid. Then I have an hour-long break. Then I have medieval studies, which, blah, is just a bunch of reading and writing.
Tomorrow I’ve got that English class and work.
Gotta buy books tomorrow too. Good-bye, money.

So, duh…let me retract my previous statement from 1:30 this morning.
When I looked up the roster, I could only see my section number. Therefore, that’s only like half the class. I just shouldn’t think after midnight; I get confused. So note to all (two) of my readers (hi, mom!): DO NOT READ ANYTHING I TYPE AFTER MIDNIGHT!
Anyway, the big news of the day is: I am a new lab assistant for the CS dept at UT. Woohoo! Doing a bit of training tomorrow and my first day is Thursday.
This week is going to be forever long while I’m waiting for my laptop. I can feel it.

So it’s 1:30 in the morning and I can’t sleep and I have a job interview tomorrow morning.
I better not look like death. Anyway, so to occupy myself I decided to look up my class rosters, since classes start Wednesday. I am the only girl in my CS class. Usually there’s like two or three others, but no. According to the roster, I am the only one. So we’ll see about that in a few days.
Laptop should be here, probably, about Saturday. I’m super excited.
I’ve been dreaming of this laptop for like a year now. Okay, so I’ve only been dreaming of this particular laptop for about two months, but still. Here’s a link to pics and specs and stuff. I got the 2.66 GHz processor with 512 MB RAM, 60 gig hard drive, and a DVD-R/RW/CD-RW drive.
Then go here and click on “larger notebook image” to see more pics and drool with me! Will take some more pics after I get it.

So school starts in 11 days.
Yay. At least I won’t be sitting around bored all the time. At least not on MWF. I still need a job.
I don’t really know what my problem is. I have a lot of stuff I could be doing, I just don’t do it. Like, I bought a couple computer books cheap a week or so ago to keep myself occupied (ignoring the fact that I’m already in the middle of like 4), but I can’t bring myself to read them. I think about reading them. But I don’t do it. I just keep sitting here. Bored. Trying to come up with something to put in my blog that won’t put people to sleep. As you can see, I haven’t come up with anything yet. So, sleep well.

Well, I had an appointment today to try to see if I could get into that CS class…but I can’t.
So, I guess I’m gonna end up taking another math class this semester. So, that’s two math, one CS, one English, and one other. Blah. That means there is the potential for ending up with a prof I don’t want next semester, plus I will probably be taking three CS classes in the spring too.

Yeah..it’s been awhile…
Today I figured out that I was going to be taking more hours than I really needed to this semester, so I dropped one of my English classes. For some reason, I had it in my head that I need to take 18 hours every semester just to graduate in Fall 2004. But I don’t. I don’t even need to take 18 hours ONE semester to graduate in Fall 2004. Dunno what I was thinking.
Anyway, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to take one of the CS classes that I need this semester. Because I withdrew from a math class last year that is a prerequisite for it…and I am going to take that again this semester, but since it’s a prereq, I don’t know if I can take the CS class. If that makes any sense. I hope I can. I really want the prof who is teaching it this fall.
It stormed last night. I went for a walk in it. It was great. I love storms.

Welcome to my blog! I got bored…
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jessica. I’m 21 and a senior at UT Knoxville. I am majoring in Computer Science and minoring in English (such a weird combo, I know). I’m into computers, reading, and music. That’s about all I do.
Not much has been going on in my life. I wrecked my car and had to get an entire new side put on. Then someone broke into it and stole all my CDs and my CD player. My cat died at age 10. I’ve lost all my friends. You know, the usual.
The crappy thing about having all my CDs stolen is that now I have all these empty cases. And you can’t just go somewhere and buy just the CD. No, you have to pay $5 for a used CD with case and booklet, when all you need is the CD. The other crappy thing is I just got the new Jewel CD that came out less than a month ago and got to listen to it, oh, about 5 times before they took it.
I am thankful that they didn’t see my Revis CD that was not really hidden. Of course, I still don’t have a CD player in my car anymore. So I’m stuck listening to the radio and all the crap it plays. But I’m not bitter.
School starts in less than two months. Not looking forward to that. I have a nice 18 hour load again this semester, complete with two Comp Sci classes, two English classes, and two classes that I wish I didn’t have to take. If I am still alive in December, then I think I could live through anything.
BTW, I’ve tested this blog on several browsers, but can’t get it to look right on Konqueror (grr…), so use Mozilla or Netscape or IE or something if you want it to look right.
