My poor neglected blog…

I can’t believe I didn’t post the entire month of November. So sorry! It was a very busy month, filled with…

Starting my own photography business. Yeah, I decided to go for it. Well, just wading my toes in slowly. I would hate to get burnt out on something I love so much. But, most of my photography posts are now over at the new photography blog. You can also become a fan of me on Facebook (that sounds so narcissistic) or follow my photography Twitter account.

Celebrating my birthday. A bunch of us Scorpios got together and threw a big party. Then I went to Orlando to spend my birthday week at Universal and Disney. And I know I just linked to the photography blog twice more. I promise I’m not abandoning this one.

Being busy at work. Although, that’s pretty much been non-stop all year.

Starting Christmas shopping. I’m already halfway done!

And, um, NOT finishing the things I’m supposed to do before I’m 28. Yeah. Uh. We’ll just move that to the Before 29 list. (But to be fair, there was only one thing I didn’t do!)

I’m a slacker. Sorry.

There’s new pictures in the photo gallery. I do update it even when I don’t keep up with the blog.

Last weekend was my nephew Alex’s 1st birthday party. We held the party here at my house. There was a Winnie the Pooh theme, and I think everyone had a good time.

Yesterday we went to my co-worker Jonathan’s wedding up near Cincinnati. It was a gorgeous wedding. The highlight was a song that was sung during the ceremony that Tiffany wrote for Jonathan. Yeah, I cried.

Next weekend, Ben and I are getting our parents together for the first time for a BBQ. The weekend after that is my friend Angeline’s wedding. Then it’s fourth of July weekend. Then I’ll be in Virginia Beach the next weekend. So it’s a busy summer!!

My birthday weekend went okay.

On Friday night, we went and saw the Blue Man Group again. Ben and I were in the second row on the floor, which was really cool. It’s amazing how they always have the same look of confusion/wonder on their faces and never falter. We got to go to the meet and greet after the show, where we got our pictures taken with each of them. One of them even kissed my cheek to mark me with blue lip prints. After the concert, we went out to the Big Bang down the road to drink and sing along. It was pretty fun. I wish that even one of my good friends (besides Ben) would have been able to come out, but c’est la vie. Though I don’t really understand how it happens every year that the planets will align in such a way to cause all of my friends to be busy on the one day of the year that I really need them.

Saturday, I pulled myself out of bed and spent most of the morning cleaning. The housewarming went well, and several people stopped by. The after party was also fun, and I got to see my friend Michele for the first time in over 3 years, which was really cool. We played Scene It and our team came in a very close second to Ben and Wayne.

So, overall, I guess for one of my birthdays, it was pretty good. Pictures from both parties are up in the photos section.

Okay, my party decision….

After much deliberation, here is the plan/schedule..

Friday, November 16 (my birthday):
8pm: Blue Man Group concert at the arena
11pm: Birthday celebration at the Big Bang (probably, it was fun there)

Saturday, November 17:
3pm: Housewarming party at the new house
7pm: After-party

People are welcome to come up and make a weekend of it. I’ll have a couple extra beds at the new house, plus a sofa and floor space. Please let me know if you are coming to the concert, so we can coordinate buying tickets so everyone can sit together. If you want to skip the concert but still come to the birthday celebration, please feel free. The bar is a half a block away from the arena on Broadway. If you want to carpool to the concert to save money on parking downtown (it’s usually $5 after 5pm in most lots), then we will be meeting at my house at 6:30pm. If you need directions to any of these places, just let me know. :)

Edited to reflect change in housewarming plans.

I’m having a crisis.

I was planning on having a birthday/housewarming party at my new house this year. I have been planning to have it on my birthday, since it falls on a Friday, and that never happens, and next year will be a leap year, so I won’t be able to have a party on my birthday day for many many years after this year. However, it just came to my attention that Blue Man Group is returning to Nashville, and having a concert on the night of my birthday. Thus my crisis. I can’t really afford tickets, but it was the most awesome concert ever, and I would love to see it again. So, I present a poll to you, readers of my blog. Please help me with my crisis.

My birthday has come and gone.

It went pretty well, despite the fact that most of my friends were unable to make it to the party. There are pictures in the photos section.

I picked up my Wii at midnight during the party. It’s so awesome. We’ve been playing Wii Sports off and on as well as Zelda (which is spectacular). If anyone has a Wii, my Wii code is 3593 1974 7004 3701. :)

I also received a Heroscape figure, gaming chairs, Final Fantasy V, and the first season of Scrubs on DVD from Ben.

I can’t believe it’s already November.

Halloween was good. I came in first place in our office costume contest and our department won the haunted house decorating contest (well, we tied with administration anyway). You can see pictures of the office party in the gallery.

My birthday is in less than two weeks. I have no idea what the plans are, but something is scheduled for November 18th. However, this is the day before the Wii comes out, which means at midnight I’m leaving the party to go pick up the system. :D But I don’t really think we’ll be having a Wii-party that night, since I’ll still only have one Wii-mote. I might buy another, but seeing as they are $60 each, I doubt I’ll be getting three extras right away for all that multiplayer goodness.

Speaking of buying stuff, it’s November, so I promise not to buy myself anything other than: Nintendo Wii, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Final Fantasy III. Only cause I have all those pre-ordered. Anything else is fair game if you wish to buy me a present. And, as always, here is my wishlist. Remember to sort by priority! I’d like to buy myself a new outfit for my party but I don’t know if I’ll have the money.

I bought memberships to Dragoncon 2007 today. I was so sad about missing it this year that I went ahead and secured my place in next year’s convention. It is $45 per person right now, the cheapest tickets get and that price goes up on November 15. So if you want to go with us, hurry and get your memberships. Don’t forget, it’s $85 at the door, so $45 doesn’t sound so bad. :)

Birthday party recap…

I got to Chili’s at 9:00, and the hostess told me there was a table with a large group of people that should leave within 15 minutes. In the meantime, we were seated at a booth. I was going to wait till we could move to the table before I ordered any food or anything. In the meantime, some more people showed up and we spilled over onto a table next to the booth. And more people, which didn’t fit. These people were never going to leave that table. Around 11:00, we decide they are never going to leave, and I’m no longer hungry, so I cancel my order of chicken crispers that hadn’t yet arrived that I’d ordered at like 10:00 and go for the cake. They say they are out of cake. The sole reason we went to Chili’s in the first place.

What to do? We decide to call another Chili’s. Luckily, Ashley has the phone number of the Chili’s on the strip stored in her phone. We call them. They have cake but they close at midnight. We decide to place a to-go order, pick it up, and take it to Patrick Sullivan’s with us.

I entrust Jason with my camera and tell him (for whatever reason) to take pictures of the drive there (see, now you understand the pictures in the photo gallery). Ben and I get in the car with Greg and Faith, get the cake, and meet up with everyone at Patrick Sullivan’s.

Now, I had called ahead earlier to make sure that it was okay to go to Patrick Sullivan’s if we had people under 21 with us. They told me it shouldn’t be a problem. But apparently it was, and Greg and Faith had to leave, since Faith was underage. :(

Also my camera’s batteries had died, so I don’t have any pics of me and the cake. :( But after that, Jason and Becka left to go to Walgreens and pick me up some more batteries.

I received a preorder of Final Fantasy IV on GBA from Andy, and Jason and Becka got me a book with the rules to every game imaginable in it. I got a cute Presea figurine from Ben and he says something else is coming. All in all, it was a pretty good birthday. :)

Today’s my birthday!

We will be celebrating this Friday at Chili’s on Kingston Pike (molten chocolate cake is the best food ever!!).

Also, I will be having a graduation party on the night of December 17 at the manplex.

I’m finally getting to enjoy the 10th season of Friends. It’s been forever since I’ve seen any of these episodes.

Birthday party recap…

We arrived at Chuck E. Cheese around 8:00 to find it extemely crowded. We immmediately commandeered a table by the stage that didn’t have a reserved sign on it. It still had balloons and a cake stand from the last party, so we took full advantage of the free festive decorations. Everyone started arriving soon after, and I donned my Happy Birthday tiara. We ate some pizza and watched as the other tables, full of kids having birthdays, demanded Chuck E. and then attacked him when he finally appeared. After all the kids got their birthday stuff out of the way, everyone sang happy birthday to me and I blew out the candles on my cake. I also opened my cards and gifts. Then it was onto the games.

When everyone was done, we pooled all our tickets together. We had 415. Not enough for anything than maybe a tiny basketball or soft mallet. Then they got the idea that I should have this crazy Plasma lamp that cost 4000 tickets. So the tickets we had were subtracted from it and they paid for the rest of it, heh.

After that, it was onto Urban Bar. I wasn’t really in a drinking mood which seemed to upset everyone since I didn’t want to do a shot. They were threatening to pour alcohol down my throat and didn’t understand why I didn’t want to drink on my birthday. Eh. I also managed to knock over the one drink I had and spill it all over the table (see the happy napkin in the pictures). We stayed there until about 1:30 am.

After a bit of discussion, we went over to Chance and Kelly’s house to hang out for a little while. Then we headed over to Fairbanks. The music there was pretty cool and as soon as we got there some random guy asked to borrow our glowsticks and performed for us. That was pretty cool. I need to be proficient in glowstick tricks. There weren’t a whole lot of people dancing and those that were weren’t really all that great. But it was amusing to watch if nothing else. We stayed there till about 5 am.

All in all, I had a pretty good birthday. :)

Almost 23….

My birthday is getting closer. Less than two weeks.

If you know me at all, then you probably know my birthdays are usually disasters. In an effort to remedy this and to deny my true age, I’m throwing my birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese next Saturday. Of course, afterwards we’ll all end up going to a bar or something, but I’m going to begin my 23rd year with good pizza, fun arcade games, and a guy dressed up in a mouse costume.
