So we’re having a little Halloween get-together on Friday night, and I was thinking about renting a couple horror movies to have on in the background. Any suggestions? Ben owns ALL of the Friday the 13th movies already, and it looks like Night of the Living Dead is currently on On Demand. However, I have two copies of Iron Man that Blockbuster Total Access sent me (don’t ask why I have two) that I could exchange for some free rentals (since I haven’t used my October rentals yet), so I’m open to anything.
Probably stupidly, I bought two second row seats and meet-and-greet passes to the Blue Man Group show. So, now in addition to the eight tickets I had, I’ve got two more and backstage passes. Invitations to all the parties are going out as soon as I can drag myself to the post office to buy stamps. So watch your mailbox. Kids are welcome to come to the afternoon housewarming party on the 17th, but you probably don’t want them sticking around past 7:00 or so, since that’s when the after-party is starting. For those who have asked, I am registered at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and have a TargetList at Target, and of course, there’s always my Amazon wish list which I recently updated.
I also (finally) started work on my Halloween costume. I went and bought fabric Tuesday, my wig came in yesterday, and I started cutting the pieces out and realized that I forgot to buy matching thread. So I’ve got to do that today and get a zipper as well. I have to have this done before Saturday night, so no pressure or anything. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to post any pictures or tell you what it is (although some people already know) until after Halloween because I’ve got to keep people at work in the dark.
As far as the house goes, I’ve still got to paint two more rooms, install the laminate, and then get the carpet guys in there. It’s ridiculous how much carpet costs. My mom and I are going to start work on the laminate this weekend. Hopefully we can get a lot of it done, then I can get the hallway and bathroom painted next week maybe and finish up the laminate so the carpet guys can get in there by the end of the month. I wanted to move in before Halloween, but so far it looks like it may be the weekend after Halloween. So that will give me two weeks to get everything put where I want it before the housewarming party. Thankfully, I’ve got a lot of three and four day weekends in November. I need some rest. Then I get to start thinking about Christmas shopping (which I’ve normally already started by this time of year, but I’ve got way too much other stuff occupying my thoughts at the moment).
Halloween was good. I came in first place in our office costume contest and our department won the haunted house decorating contest (well, we tied with administration anyway). You can see pictures of the office party in the gallery.
My birthday is in less than two weeks. I have no idea what the plans are, but something is scheduled for November 18th. However, this is the day before the Wii comes out, which means at midnight I’m leaving the party to go pick up the system. But I don’t really think we’ll be having a Wii-party that night, since I’ll still only have one Wii-mote. I might buy another, but seeing as they are $60 each, I doubt I’ll be getting three extras right away for all that multiplayer goodness.
Speaking of buying stuff, it’s November, so I promise not to buy myself anything other than: Nintendo Wii, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Final Fantasy III. Only cause I have all those pre-ordered. Anything else is fair game if you wish to buy me a present. And, as always, here is my wishlist. Remember to sort by priority! I’d like to buy myself a new outfit for my party but I don’t know if I’ll have the money.
I bought memberships to Dragoncon 2007 today. I was so sad about missing it this year that I went ahead and secured my place in next year’s convention. It is $45 per person right now, the cheapest tickets get and that price goes up on November 15. So if you want to go with us, hurry and get your memberships. Don’t forget, it’s $85 at the door, so $45 doesn’t sound so bad.
It was a bit of a Final Fantasy VII themed Halloween. We watched “Advent Children” on Friday night, which I really enjoyed. Definitely going to have to get it on DVD.
I removed the login script for now, since it’s not entirely working, and I haven’t found time to sit down and look at it yet. Between working, having at least one program due every week in my CS classes, working on a website for the local YWCA as well as other things for my design class, and taking care of my Nintendogs, I can barely even find time to breathe. On top of that, I’m trying to work on my Halloween costume; luckily, my wonderful mother is helping me out a lot with that.
Upcoming dates of importance:
Wednesday, October 12 - Mellow Mushroom Trivia Night. Everyone must come out and help us. I’ve yet to be on a team that won.
Thursday, October 13 - Fall break. I get to relax and not think about school for a day.
Wednesday, October 19 - Crystal Method is at Fiction. Haven’t decided if I will be going. Depends on how my work-load looks.
Tuesday, October 25 - Next part of my design class project due.
Thursday, October 27 - My dad’s birthday.
Friday, October 28 - Jason and Becka’s Halloween party.
Saturday, October 29 - Matt’s sister Becky’s wedding. Sabrina will be in town.
Monday, October 31 - Halloween and Nine Inch Nails concert in Nashville.
Thursday, November 3 - Tests in both of my Comp Sci classes.
After that, I get a breather. Hopefully. My birthday party will more than likely be on November 18. Don’t know what we’re doing yet.
Graduation is only about two months away. Scary.
Check out our ultra-spooky pumpkin! And notice, how in the picture taken with the flash, the ghosts seem drawn to it.
And for some humor, here’s a couple pictures I took of Lydia when I gave her a bath a few weeks ago. And one from where she randomly fell asleep inbetween the couch cushions.
I got to go on the best kind of shopping excursion there is today. Remember when I said that there was nothing better than dying your hair? I forgot about Halloween costume shopping.
As I was driving to Blockbuster today to switch out my movies (got Mulholland Dr. and SLC Punk), I saw a billboard for Party City advertising Halloween stuff.
Flashback to last year.
I was really wanting to go to a costume party last year, but hadn’t gotten any invites, so I never got around to buying a costume. Then on October 30, I was invited to one. Way to be short notice. Except Party City was out of costumes. At least, good ones. So I didn’t go and sat at home and Tera’s hard drive died.
I’m determined not to let that happen again. So after I went to Blockbuster (and then to Fazoli’s because I was uber-hungry), I drove down the street to Party City. Ah, no noisy and annoying crowds like there are when you are trying to find a costume on October 30. Everything was in stock. I had my choice.
First, I picked up an Evil Pixie costume and tried it on. I really liked this one, just not how it fit. Extremely tight and short. Which isn’t a bad thing, but it was also strapless and I could just imagine all the bad things that could occur with a strapless costume at a crazy party.
Next, I tried a Gothic Pirate costume. It was cute, but it didn’t exactly look right on me.
For my third choice, I found a Midnight Priestess costume (see left). It’s bascially just a velvet cape, but it looks pretty cool on. I held on to that one.
I was about to just get that one when I saw the Gothic Temptress costume (see right). Velvet with lace sleeves. Pretty cool looking. It comes with this massive choker, but I like it better without it. I ended up holding on to that one too.
So, really, to make a long story short, I ended up with two costumes. I better get invited to some parties this year.
